To Write or not to Write
It can be a daunting task to start on writing content for your new website, but it doesn't have to be. Hopefully this outline will help you to make the first steps in the right direction.
Where to begin...
Start by thinking about what you want your website to say. Why do you need this new website, and what do you want it to do? This should give you an outline of what general content you will need to write. Firstly draw up a site map. Think about the pages and headings that you will need to cover.
Secondly you need to know what you want to be found for in search engines. What do you expect people to type into Google to find you? Put together a list of those keywords.
Your homepage...
Which of the general content that you have outlined in your site map do you think is most important for you and your business? What do you want people to do when they get to your website? The answers to these two questions will indicate what content you want to highlight on your homepage. Make a note of these.
Now start writing...
You can now start on the main content for your site. Work through your site map and write content for all pages, except for the homepage. When doing this you have to keep in mind to:
- think about your keywords, incorporate these in your copy whereever you can
- don't forget about page titles, meta description and keywords for SEO optimisation
