Dragon Awards Winner

Dragon Award for Base Creative

Base Creative has been recognised for its commitment to Corporate Community Involvement (CCI), by winning the Economic Regeneration category of the prestigious 22nd Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards.

Iain Scott, managing director of Base Creative was presented with the award by Lord Mayor Ian Luder at an award ceremony at the Mansion House in the City of London on 15th October 2009.

Established in 1987 by the Lord Mayor Sir David Rowe-Ham, the Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards (named after the mythical guardians of the City of London, which can be seen at the gates of the Square Mile financial district) is one of the oldest and most well-established schemes to reward companies and public offices across London for their Corporate Community Involvement initiatives, in six separate categories – Education, Economic Regeneration, Social Inclusion, Heart of the City, Lord Mayor’s Award and Volunteer of the Year.

Lord Mayor Ian Luder said, “The business benefits of CCI programmes have been grasped during the last year, with the reputational, HR and even the new-business networking benefits of effective CCI programmes striking a chord with more and more firms. Many firms helped drive regeneration and gave substantial support to neighbouring communities through their innovative Corporate Community Involvement schemes.”

Base Creative beat off strong competition from 3 other entrants in the same category, including Badenock and Clark, University of London and international law firm Denton Wilde Sapte.

Base Creative’s Work With Us programme offers one charity each year, its services completely pro bono. It’s a significant commitment for a six-strong team who dedicate over 270 hours a year towards making a big impact for the supported charity. In 2008, it was The Brokerage, and in 2009, the charity Reach was chosen.

Base Creative was chosen for the award based on the involvement of the entire company and the impact the programme had on the charities it supported.

Iain Scott says, “It is great that our programme has been recognised by such a prestigious awards body. We were up against stiff competition who had all done amazing work. Winning this award does demonstrate that you don’t have to be a big blue chip to have a solid, working CSR programme.”
